Fees and pricing
One: a $635 documentation fee — the same flat amount on every vehicle, no exceptions. Beyond that you pay only what the state collects: MA sales tax, registration and title fees, and the state inspection fee, at exactly the amounts set by the MA RMV. If you register the vehicle in another state, that state's charges apply instead.
Vehicle history and disclosure
Yes. A free CARFAX report is available on every vehicle, before purchase — just ask.
We disclose the warranty coverage that applies under Massachusetts Lemon Law terms, everything Massachusetts and federal regulation require, and any title issues. We also guarantee that every vehicle will pass the MA state safety and emissions inspection.
Independent inspection
Always. You are welcome to arrange an independent pre-purchase inspection (PPI) at your own expense, at any location you choose within a reasonable radius. Bring a valid driver's license. Specialty and performance vehicles — an STI or an Audi S4, S5, or S6, for example — additionally require manager approval.
How our cars are serviced
Every vehicle goes through a multi-point inspection; problems found are fixed and parts are replaced. Every car gets a mandatory oil change and a deep detail inside and out. The work covers what the car needs to be state-inspection and emissions ready. Wear-and-tear items are not guaranteed; what Massachusetts Lemon Law requires is.
Title and registration
For Massachusetts registrations, 1–3 business days, plus your insurance company's turnaround time. Out-of-state registrations take a week or more. The most common cause of delay is waiting on insurance information from the customer.
Financing
You submit a credit application, our finance manager runs it, and we come back with the best available offer from our lenders for your situation. Hermes Auto Sales is not a lender and does not provide loans — we help customers obtain financing. There is no dealer financing fee, though a lender may have fees of its own. Every credit situation welcome.
